CD割れました詐欺 “Broken CD” Scam
2010年代中盤の話で今はなかなかないと思いますが、
The stories are from the mid-2010s. I think things are a bit better now, but at that time it was really bad.
このCD聴いてみる？ほらお勧めだよ、どうぞっ。からの落として割れちゃった。責任取れよ、詐欺です。
当たり屋です。
時にはCD、時にはメガネ、など割れやすいものの種類の数だけ存在しています。
タイムズスクエアを一通り歩くと10人以上は出会します。ほんと最低の、最底辺の人々です。
“Hey, want to try this CD? It’s really good, here you go.”
Then they drop it on purpose and say, “Oh no, it broke! Pay for it!”
This is a scam. Sometimes it is a CD, sometimes glasses, or anything that breaks easily.
If you walk once around Times Square, you can meet more than 10 of these people.
They are truly the worst, the lowest of the low.
しっかりガン飛ばして殺気を漂わせ、その場を去りましょう。
暴言吐いて睨んできますが、無視しましょう。
特に優しい日本人がターゲットになることが多々あり、許せませんね。
The best thing is to look strong, keep your face hard, and walk away.
They will curse at you and stare, but just ignore them.
Kind Japanese people often become the target, and that makes me so angry.
偽パフォーマー Fake performers
スーパーマ◯オ、ミッ◯ーマウス、などなど某有名キャラクターの仮装をし、
一緒に撮ろう、ぜっ！ぜひ！という勧誘をしてきます
そして、ツーショットからの金銭対価要求です。撮ったら最後、地獄の底まで執拗に追いかけてきます。
Some dress up like Mario or Mickey Mouse.
They say, “Let’s take a picture! Come on, just one photo!”
But once you take it, they chase you for money. They will not stop.
何がひどいって、仮装のレベルの低さ。
着ぐるみ暑いのか頭部完全に出してる。
もう出ちゃってる！！ 顔出ちゃってる！ミッキーの顔の下に、おじさんだから！あと腹も出てるから
And the costumes are terrible.
They are so hot that they take the head part off, and you can see the man’s face under Mickey’s head. Sometimes his stomach is also showing.
強引にポーズ決めさせられ、王冠被らされ、国旗巻かれ、
自由の女神のくせに全然自由にしてくれません
They even force you to pose, put a crown on you, or wrap you with a flag.
The Statue of Liberty costume never gives you freedom at all.
キセルメチャ多い Fare evasion
地下鉄では改札を飛び越える若者たち。NYカーたちにとっては、単なるハードル走でしかないです。
チケットのいらない非常口を常に利用している。
In the subway, young people jump over the gates all the time.
Some use the emergency exit doors without paying.
For New Yorkers, the subway gate is nothing more than a hurdle to jump.
シンプルに小賢しいおばさん Sneaky old lady
ランドリー、普段使わないような硬貨支払いなので、小銭を袋にまとめて持って行きます。洗濯機の上に置いて、少し目を話すと、ふつーに小銭まとめてた袋を持って帰ろうとしている隣のおばさん。
At the laundromat, you need many coins.
I put my coin bag on the washing machine for a moment, and the old woman next to me tried to walk away with it!
おいおいおい、ちょっと待て！！
すぐ取り押さえます。
いや、ありえないって、こざかしすぎるって。自分のかと思ったとか、流石に言い訳も無理だろ！
油断も隙もないなほんとに
“Hey! Wait!!”
I caught her quickly, but it was shocking.
She could not even make an excuse like, “Oh, I thought it was mine.”
You really cannot drop your guard in this city.
ギャングの存在 Gangs
シンプルに帰り道怖い。住んでいたブロンクスでは、黒人に囲まれて暴言を吐かれたり笑われたりしながら登下校してました
The way home was scary. Black kids sometimes surrounded me, shouted at me, and laughed.
さらには、いわゆるギャングもいます．
電柱に靴がめちゃくちゃ引っかかってる。。
何かと思っていたら、これギャングの縄張りらしいです
電線に靴を引っ掛けて縄張りを表しているのです。アナログ！動物的！
And there were real gangs. Shoes were hanging all over power lines.
At first I wondered what it was, but later I learned it shows gang territory.
しにそうになったこと Times I Almost Died
まだ変な人に絡まれるとかはマシな方で、
実際、死にそうになったことが3回あります。
Being bothered by crazy people was still better.
There were three times I truly felt close to death.
1．毎朝登校してる駅出ようとしたら地上から人ごみが流れてくる！朝から銃撃戦でした．
One morning, when I tried to leave the station, a crowd of people was running from outside. There was a gunfight right above ground.
2．通っている学校近くでのガス爆発、死者が出ており、50人以上が負傷
Near my school, a gas explosion killed people and injured more than 50.

3．最寄駅での脱線事故 死者が出ており、50人以上が負傷．いつも使ってる電車．．．
At my nearest station, a train derailed. Again, people died and over 50 were injured. It was the train I usually took.
一年で3回も、、治安だけじゃないですが、本当にいろんなことが起こります．
Three times in one year. Not only crime, but all kinds of disasters happen in this city.
治安の悪さと極めて軽率な行動の掛け合わせで起きた最悪な事件をいくつか Sad stories
ハロウィンの悲劇．トリックオアトリートとお父さん．
庭の物陰に隠れてお父さんを驚かそうとした子供が、不審者と勘違いした実のお父さんによって撃たれてしまいました
On Halloween, a boy tried to surprise his father in the yard.
The father thought he was a stranger and shot him by mistake.
警官に向かって銃を向ける子供、警官の指示に従わなかったとして、警官に撃たれました。のちに子供が持っていたのはおもちゃの銃で、おふざけであったと分かったのです、、
Another time, a boy pointed a toy gun at a police officer.
He did not follow orders, and the officer shot him. Later they found it was just a toy.
いや、、、虚しいというか、ほんとありえないよNY
A面B面、知っておくことはとても大事ですね．
It’s so empty, so sad. New York has a bright side and a dark side.
It is important to know both.
