寮の火災、日常です。／Dormitory fire as usual

学校の寮にいた時の話。

When I was in a school dormitory,

週2で火災、、

もとい、週2で火災報知器が鳴り響く寮で生活していました。

We had a fire twice a week.

Actually, there was fire alarms in dormitory twice a week.

はじめて警報が鳴った時は

めちゃくちゃビビりましたね。

The first time I heard that, it was so surprising and scary.

はじめてのアメリカの警報なので。

It was my first alarm in my life in the U.S.

部屋の電気は点滅し、大音量の警報が鳴り響く。

The light in rooms flashed and a loud alarm sounded.

警報が鳴り響くと

「早く寮の外にでろー」とアナウンスが入り

どんな時間、どんな格好でも全員部屋から出されます。

After alarm ringing, “get out from dormitory now!” There was the announcement.

No matter what you wear and the time, you would be taken out from the room.

9月だったんですが、めちゃくちゃ寒いのねNY。

何も知らずに初めて部屋から出された時は夜にパジャマでした。

It was crazy cold in NY, it was a September though.

The first time I was taken out from the room at night, I worn only pajamas.

いや凍え死ぬ。

f**kin cold. Gonna die..

全員を部屋から出して、火災の確認、原因の確認が取れるまで

外の原っぱみたいなところで待機。

The school staff let us get out from the dorm.

Then we had to wait on the grass until the cause of fire was confirmed.

20分くらい気温10℃くらいのところに放り出されます。

We were thrown out in 10℃ freezer.

でね、これぜっったい火災じゃないんですよ。週2だから。

Here I want to say, it can’t be a fire cause twice a week.

ウィードなんですよ、

It’s because of Weed.

いけない葉っぱを吸ってる時の

煙が探知されるんです。

The smoke from bad students smoking was detected.

外でも吸っていましたが、バレないように、また外に出れない時間は部屋の中で楽しむんですね

They usually smoked outside, but sometimes inside dormitory.

まず、吸うなよ。

めちゃくちゃルール守らんやん。

First of all, you must not smoke of course.

あと、学習しよ？？

百歩譲って吸っていいよ、もう。

みんなでHighになって楽しんだらいいよ

Honestly speaking, I don’t prevent them from smoking.  They can get high and enjoy what they want to do.

でも煙、探知されるよね？

探知されんように工夫はじめよ。さすがに、

なんか策はあるから。

週2やめよ。

Obviously smoke is easily detected in a dormitory, I wanted students to do other way ingenuity.  Alarming twice a week is too much for us.

ほいで寮の管理人も大変よね。

毎回毎回追いかけ回してるんですから、

The dormitory manager was also busy.  They had to find the criminal of the fire every time.

ほんとに、おかしいでしょ。

消防車毎回くる、いや、あほでしょ

毎回全員出されて

I realize that’s crazy again.  Every time we all were taken out from dormitory and fire trucks were also called.

これが週2、もう警報なっても無心。

さすがに慣れましたね。。

I was so surprised for the first time though, I got used to the fire alarm every week at last.

まあ、なかなかないよね、、自由な感じ、イイネ！

These young students were so free to do anything.  I like it.
