マチュピチュ観光の拠点となる街、オリャンタイタンボ。

ちょー田舎なんですが、ちょー人気な世界遺産の拠点なのです。

The travel base of Machu Picchu, Ollantaytambo.

The village was so rural, and so popular base for travel.

ごりっごりに山に囲まれています。

The village was surrounded big mountains.

観光客が来る街にしては整ってなさすぎるんですが、素晴らしい街でした。

栄てるのか栄えてないのか、、よくわからない不思議な雰囲気に包まれた街でした。ここで生活している人、どんな感じなのでしょうか。

Not maintained town as a traveler’s place though, beautiful town.

It was a town surrounded by a mysterious atmosphere.  I didn’t know whether it was prospering or not though.  What was it like to be a person living here?

アナログ感すごい　Hand-drawn map

街の地図渡されたんですけど、

I got the map of this town,

アナログ！！絵だねこれ。もっと簡略化、図式化したやつないかな？

Analog!!!   It’s absolutely drawing.  Was there any schematic map?

いやでも建物少なすぎて、建物の位置、形、めっちゃ正確。絵でいいです。

The map was perfectly match the town because there were not so many remarkable building.  It showed even the building shape and locations.  So it worked nice.

古き良き街　Good heritage town

ほんとにポツンと山にある街なんですが、ちゃんと衣食住環境整ってます。

This town was really located in the mountains though, there were enough restaurants, shops and hotels.

雰囲気あるなあ

Nice appearance.

石段、ちゃんとしてる。

周囲を山に囲まれている山の麓にある村なのですが、異様に歴史を感じます。。

The town seemed so historical, there were only mountain around this village.

このオリャンタイタンボ村は実は昔、インカ帝国の要塞だったらしいのです。

この村の周りにはオリャンタイタンボ遺跡としていくつも立派な石段や建物の跡があるのです。

この村自体も立派な観光地！

This village, Ollantaytambo, was fortress of the Inca Empire.

There were many historic ruins  around this village.  Ollantaytambo is also famous historical place.

そもそもどこから電気が？？ってレベルなのですが

ブラウン管！

Old!! CRT TV!!!  I had no idea the source of electric power though.

このアンテナの感じがいいですね、このまちはまだ昭和です。

I like this antenna, this town was still living in 20 century,

ちゃんとした店あるじゃーん

Good appearance restaurant

レストランもちゃんとあります！

Nice restaurant there!

確か20円くらいだった料理。　採算大丈夫？まあ内容もそれ相応やけど！

Famous dish here, only costs less than $1.

Ok for finance management?  Actually dishes were worth the price.

この街の料理といえばこのスープにパスタを申し訳程度に入れたやつ！

Famous dish here, the soup with poor amount pasta.

現地民も常連な感じで食べてましたが、毎日これはきついなああ

There were locals in this restaurant and ate this. I can’t adopt this meal as a diet.

あとは例によって芋とチキンです。

and chicken with potato as ordinary.

まあおいしかったですよ！  Delicious though!!

手作り感デザイナーズ宿  Handmade Inn

宿は、

めちゃくちゃ怪しげな、デザイナーズ宿に泊まりました。

How about housing,,,

I stayed Insanely dubious fashionable inn.

赤くて怪しい。

Red and dubious.

There was only suspicious red light.

赤いのよねー

Reddish Red.

シャワールームにはめちゃくちゃでかいムカデがいましたが、

Even though the big centipede walking on the shower room,

温かいシャワー、でました！！

I got hot shower then!!!!

薬か葉っぱか   Medicine or Leaf

マチュピチュ旅のアイテムを揃えます、店で軽食確保！

I collected items for Machu Picchu trip.

ひたすらに乾燥パワー系食べ物の品揃え

Many many dry energy bars.

この緑なんだ？？

what’s this green?

緑の袋に葉っぱが入ってます。

これコカの葉です。

These were Coca leaves in a green bag.

高山病に効くコカ茶の原料！そのまま食べてもよし。

ちなみにコカインの原料でもあります。

Coca leave is ingredients for coca tea which is effective against altitude sickness,,  and also ingredient for “cocaine”.

覚醒作用があるので、血管を拡張させて酸素供給を増やします。

まさかですが、現地の方もガンガンに高山病になるらしく、コカの葉を常に持ち歩いています。

Because it has awakening effect, eating coca leaves dilates blood vessels and increases oxygen supply.

Incredibly, even locals living in the highlands often get altitude sickness.

So they always have coca leaves in their pockets.

ちゃんと薬あるんですよ？

Human being has medicines.

私が辛そうにしていると、汚めの服のポケットから、土で真っ黒な手で、ボロボロの葉っぱを取り出して、私に渡してくれました。

とりあえず受け取りもじもじしていると、「こんな感じで食うんだぞっ」と言わんばかりに現地民もむしゃむしゃと噛むさまを見せつけてきます。

ま、食べ方知らないわけじゃないのだけどねー。

何度かその葉っぱをもらって、高山病の症状を和らげ(させられ)ました。

When I felt sick, a local man took out tattered coca leaves out of his dirty pockets by his unclean hand and gave it to me.

Then he showed how to eat the leaves by mounting on the leaves himself,,,   I just cared about cleanliness.

I got the leaves from locals several times and (forced to) relieve symptoms of altitude sickness.

高山病の薬もあるのに、いまだに葉っぱ食べてるの、すごく良いですね。

However we had already developed medicine for altitude sickness, there were locals who STILL eating Coca leaves for medicine.  Like it.

でも歯はしっかりメンテナンス

Wait,,,  the lady had orthodontic teeth… (despite living in rural)

さすがに観光地、、やはり現代文明の足跡があるか。。。

They could use civilization’s advantage, that’s a famous tourist spot.
