オリャンタイタンボから、マチュピチュへGO！！
Headed for Machu Picchu from Ollantaytambo!!
早朝5時くらいの電車に乗るため、真っ暗な中、村の駅に向かいます。
We had to take the first train at 5 a.m. in the darkness.
周りの店も始発に合わせて開店していて、みんな早起きだなあー
The shops around the station opened before the first train. Everyone here got up early.
立派な駅があります。 Massive station here.
ほんと、ようこんなとこまで来たな、、、という気持ちになります。
So I felt like finally arrived here after a long way.
マチュピチュ行きの列車は、クスコ発着のもの、とここオリャンタイタンボ発着のものがあります。
私はペルーレイル社の、オリャンタイタンボ始発の列車でマチュピチュに向かいました。すっごくおしゃれな列車が止まっています。
Trains depart from Cusco and Ollantaytambo, and head for Machu Picchu. I took the Perurail train, which was so cool, from Ollantaytambo.

天井にも窓があり、景色が楽しめる！！

人がどんどん乗ってきます。
Many tourists were getting on this train at the station.
裕福そうなおじいさんおばあさんで車内は埋まっていき、安全安心高級列車の旅みたい！
これまでの過酷な旅から一度解放された気分になります。
The train was full of wealthy old ladies and gentlemen, felt like I was on a luxury train trip.
I felt free from harsh journey at this time.
この圧倒的裕福おじさんたちは一体どこから湧いてくるのでしょう。
下界の人間には情報が来ない、辿り着けないハイクラスな宿に泊まっているんでしょうねー
Where on earth did they come from??
They may have stayed high-end hotel which ordinary people can’t find.
車内ではペルー版なまはげのショー！などなどおもてなしたくさん！
Many hospitality we got in the train, for example the show like the pic.
列車内で多国籍のアナウンスが流れます。
スペイン語 → 英語 → 日本語。
まさかの日本語！！！
We heard train announcements firstly in Spanish, then in English, finally in Japanese.
Japanese?!
車内はほとんど欧米からの観光客だったのですが、
まさか地球の裏側で日本語を聞くとは！！！びっくり
There were almost Europeans or Americans in the train.
Surprisingly, I heard Japanese in the other side of the earth.
引き続き、山中に進んでいきます。
The train went into mountains.
山頂は、、雪？？ Snow on the top of mountains.
山道を進んで、マチュピチュに近づく！！
Running in mountains! Machu Picchu was almost there.
列車で、終着駅アグアスカリエンテス駅に到着！！
Arrived at the last stop, Aguas Calientes!
完全山の中です、終着駅っぽい
Absolutely in mountains.
マチュピチュ村 Machu Picchu Village
終着駅には村があって、3000人くらい住んでるみたいですね
マチュピチュ村と呼ばれています。
The village at the final stop had about 3000 people and called as “Machu Picchu Village”.
なんか、、、、どっかの日本の温泉街にしか見えません。
（ちなみにここ、温泉湧いてます！！）
Umm,,, it reminds me somewhere in Japan hot spring town.
(Actually, we have hot spring here)
実はこのマチュピチュ村の発展に、大きく日本人が関わっているんです。
1917年、ペルビアンドリームを求めて移民としてペルーに渡った野内与吉さん。大概に山奥にあるマチュピチュ村に川から水をひき、水力発電を作り、電気を使えるようにして、村としての発展に大きく寄与したのです。
野内さんは初代マチュピチュ村の村長を務められています。
だからでしょうか、、どことなくいろんなところでJAPANを感じます。
In fact, one Japanese had a big contribution on the development of Machu Picchu village.
Yokichi Nouchi, who immigrated to Peru in 1917 from Japan, provided electricity in town by building hydroelectric facility.
Moreover, Mr. Nouchi was the first village mayor.
Maybe that’s why we could feel JAPAN from everywhere in Machu Picchu.
ちなみに野内さんは、ペルー国鉄でも働いていて
このマチュピチュ村まで繋ぐ鉄道の建設にも大きく貢献しているんです！
鉄道乗っていて、日本語のアナウンスがあるのはやはり昔からの深〜い関係性があるからかもしれませんね。
Mr. Nouchi had also worked for Peruvian national railways and contributed for construction of railways to Machu Picchu.
The Japanese announcement in the train may have originated from deep relationship between Japan and Peruvian railways.
レストランなどなどたくさんのお店が立ち並んでいます。
There were many shops including restaurants.
でもご飯はやっぱりチキンとポテト！
Our meal was chicken and potato as usual.

Local elementary students, they had decent school uniform!
おばさんは現地民っぽい格好、子供たちは制服、清掃員は清掃服
The woman wearing native dress, uniform for children and cleaners wearing their uniform.
こんな山の中なのにちゃんとしていますねー
山奥の隔離された観光地ではありながら、そこに住む現地の人々は結構良い生活しています。
People living here lived properly even though living in extreme countryside.
さらに登る Climbing more
マチュピチュは山頂に存在する遺跡です。
列車で終着駅アグアスカリエンテス駅に到着しても、そこから山頂まで登らないといけないのです。
Machu Picchu is located at the top of mountain.
We had to climb the mountain in addition to arriving at Aguas Calientes station.
この山の山頂までこっから登るのー？！
Is, is there our destination on such a high mountain peak?
登山道としてもマチュピチュは有名で、ここから登山する観光客意外と多いのです。バックパックを背負って登山に向かう人結構いました。
Here was a famous mountain as trail. There were many tourists who were climbing with backpack.
まあ我々は山頂のマチュピチュまで連れて行ってくれるバスに乗り込みます。
We passed by those climbers, got into the bus bringing us to Machu Picchu.

resembles Japanese flag.
ここにも日本へのリスペクトがあるんじゃあーないかーーーー？？
Is this the bus company’s respect for Japan, isn’t it?
そんなこんなで、１車線しかない細ーい崖道路を、こっわーと思いながらバスで山頂に到着。
The long bus was running a narrow clif road with only one lane.

Arrived at the top.

Nearest Sun ever.
ペルー、首都リマでは空曇り過ぎで太陽全然見えなかったんですが
さすがにこの雲と同じくらいの標高ですと太陽バッチリ見えます。
なんか、いつもより大きい気がします。
I couldn’t have seen the sun in Lima though because of the heavy cloud.
We clearly saw the big sun at this high altitude same as cloud.
山登り終えて、なーんか見覚えのある棒
Familiar stick at the top.
あれです！「世界人類が平和でありますように」棒です！！！
This stick is THAT stick says “May the world’s humanity be at peace.”

ピースポールといって実は世界180ヵ国に20万本以上設置されているんですって。
マチュピチュの山頂で日本語に出会えたのが少し嬉しいです。親近感。
This pole is called “Pease pole” and is put all over the world.
I felt familiar with Japanese word at top of mountain on the other side of the globe.
そして、ついに、
ペルー最寄りの都市からも2日かけてやっと辿り着いた
and finally,,
we arrived there taking two days from city part.
聖地へ Sanctuary
マチュピチュ遺跡です！ This is Machu Picchu!
この雲掛かっているのも幻想的ー！！
A fantastic view with clouds!
あまり建造物や景色で感動しないんですが、
初めて景色を見て、ビビビッ！！ときた体験だったのを覚えています。
さすがマチュピチュ。
I rarely impressed by scenery or buildings.
This is my first experience which I was moved by scenery.
普通、こんな遺跡山頂に作りますかね。。すごすぎなんですが。
Why on earth developing cultures on momuntaintop?
何よりこの石、どこから持ってきたの。山の麓から持ってきた説もあるらしいです。機材も何もない時代に！
バス乗ってるだけで大変だったのに、この全ての資材たちを手で運んで積み上げたのか？？世界には信じられないことがたくさんありますね。
マチュピチュはインカ帝国の一つの都市として建設されたようです。どれだけ国王の権力が大きかったか、帝国が大きかったか、計り知れません。
How come they brought those stones to mountaintop from the foot of mountain !?
I can’t imagine how big the Inca Empire was.
この細かい石積みもすごいのですが、
Of course these piled stones were excellent,,
これわかります？ Can you see that?
これね、、これ水流れてるんですよ。
遺跡全体に水路があって、チョロチョロと水が流れ続けているんです。
The water was flowing..
標高3000mですよ？？
at an altitude of 3000m.
解明されてないマチュピチュの不思議の一つ、なのです。
どこからの水源？？
This is still one of the seven wonders in Machu Picchu.
あと、地震に強い設計になっているという。
現代の建築工学的にもかなり緻密な計算の上切り出されて積み上げられた遺跡らしいです。
It was designed to withstand earthquakes based on a precise design.
耐えーた感じ、、ありますね。
We can actually feel how they faced the earthquakes.
これ緻密すぎない？？ That’s too precise.
あとこの切り出しね、 and cutting
ここ！ここの切り出し技術！！果てしない。。
The cutting technique was cutting-edge.
これはなーーーに用ですかね。 Holes,,, for what?
積みすぎ。積み上げすぎよ。
Too much. Stacked up too much.

ちなみに、コロナウイルスでペルーが閉鎖、マチュピチュも閉鎖されていたのですが、
By the way,, Machu Picchu was closed for long days in 2020 because of the Corona virus.
2020年にある1人の日本人のためだけにマチュピチュがオープンしたらしいです。（ペルーから出られなくなっていたバックパッカーの日本人のために）
It was opened for a limited time only for one Japanese who was stucked in Peru.
日本人が鉄道を作り、長らく未開の地であったマチュピチュ村を開拓し、初代村長にもなった。
そして、、コロナのロックダウン後、
長らく立ち入りを禁じられていたマチュピチュを初めて開拓したのは日本人。
なにか縁を感じざるを得ません。
One Japanese became a first village mayor and contributed a development of Machu Picchu,,
and after a long coronavirus lockdown.
One Japanese was invited and pioneered there.
I can’t help but feel a mysterious connection.
