現地のペルー人に町を案内してもらった話と、
海外の人の「主張力」やっぱすごいなーっていう話です。
The story of free tour guided by local Peruvian, and their ability to insist.
ペルーに来て初めて体験したのが、「フリーツアー」
ホテルや宿にパンフレットが置いてあり、現地のスタッフが無料で街を案内してくれる、というものです。
半日くらいはつきっきりで案内してくれるので、右も左もわからない観光初日に体験することをお勧めします。
“Free tour” was the thing what I haven’t experienced before coming to Peru.
There are the free tour brochures in the guesthouse or hotels.
I really recommend free tour for the strangers especially their first day in Peru as the staff will guide you around the city for free.
パンフレットには集合場所と時間だけが記載されていて、
記載の通りどこかの広場に集まるとちゃんと現地のスタッフが待ってくれています。
Only meeting place and time was shown in the brochures which is a little bit anxiety.
We can see the staff on that time in somewhere like park as shown in brochures.
ペルーにて、リマでもクスコでもこのフリーツアーが行われていました。
スタッフは同じ緑の制服を着ていたので安心でした。
無料なので、迷うことなく両方の都市にて参加！！
In Peru, we have free tour in Lima and Cusco also.
The staff was wearing same GREE jackets which makes us feel relieve.
I joined the both tour in different city without doubt.
参加した回は、結構人も集まっていて
2、30人はいろんな国からの観光客が参加してました。
The day I joined, there were many participants around 2-30 ppl from various countries.
現地スタッフを先頭に街のいたる所を案内してくれます。
Guidance was began with local staff a top.
さすがは、現地人スタッフ。
街の小径も案内してくれます。
That’s the local Peruvian! We were taken to very local city path.

家の屋根の瓦感が日本っぽい
The tiles of the roof reminded me Japan.
ペルーの小学生も宿題に追われています。
Peruvian boy also had to do homework holding the textbook in his hand.
街並みだけでなく、美味しいレストランなども教えてくれます。
ちょっとした軽食も。
The staff gave me bunch of information, not only history of town but delicious restaurants and also light meals.
大体こういうツアーは、
スタッフの知り合いの店に連れて行って、お客さんにお金を落としてもらうことで成り立っているんですが
These tour usually takes participants to restaurants run by staff’s friend, and let participants pay to there.
このフリーツアー、特にそのような営業もなく、ほんとにフリーでした。
This free tour was actually FREE. We didn’t get any sales.
その代わり、ツアーの最後、参加者を集めてスタッフから熱い言葉をもらいました。
このツアーが有志で成り立っていること、
参加者たちに有益な情報を与えたこと、
今後も続けていくために資金が必要なこと、
何より僕たちはこれで生活しているんだ！
という
熱いスピーチ。
Instead of that, the staff gave all participants enthusiastic speech at last.
– this tour was created by volunteers
– the tour gave participants useful information
– needed money to continue to operate the tour
– “free tour” was the staff’s main business
実際、
初めは無料なので軽い気持ちで参加しましたが、
半日かけて街の紹介を行ってくれて、非常に満足度の高いツアーでした。
In fact,
The tour was great with many information of town, even though I didn’t expected before.
彼らのおかげでペルーのこれらの都市は観光地としても成り立っている、そう感じました。
うんうん、と大きく頷きながらスタッフの話を聞いていました。
I felt the tour contributed Peru city being as tourist place. Heard their speech with nodding loudly.
この熱いスピーチの後、
「と言うことで、チップで僕らを応援してください」
来ましたチップの時間です。
After the speech,
“… so, support us by a TIP.”
1回のツアーで1日が潰れてしまうので、我々のチップが彼らの重要なサラリーなのです。
The tip must be their main salary because the tour takes almost whole day.
周りの参加者が続々とチップを彼らにあげたり、、あげなかったり笑
チップとはいえ、スタッフからすれば参加料というか、お給料ですので
チップを払おうとしない参加者に対しては、一人一人熱いスピーチを繰り返して行きます笑
Some participants gave money for them, and some didn’t.
Otherwise it was called “tip”, it was tour fee and the salary for the staff.
The staff repeated enthusiastic speech to person who didn’t pay for them one on one. Haha
払わないとこの世の終わりのような失望感、ガッカリ感を全身で表現したり、、笑
Seeing participant’s hesitation to pay, the staff expressed super disappointment as if the world is over.
「このツアーが良かったなら、チップをください、」
「気持ちだけじゃダメなんだ！結果（お金）で示してくれ！」
結構語気強めで訴えてきます。
“If you felt the tour good, give us a tip.”
“No need for your kind feeling, we need the money.”
Strongly insisted.
チップもらう側としてはなかなか珍しいなあ、と思いつつも
海外の主張力を感じていました。
I was little bit surprised for strongly claim like this as a tip recipient and felt how foreigner insists.
そのようなやりとりも見ながら、ここは私が！と
先ほどのスピーチで感動した私が立ち上がります。
While looking those conversations, I who was moved by previous speech mentioned earlier, tried to change the little dark atmosphere.
彼らを支援したい、ちょっと自分もそのような熱い気持ちになり、
「払えるものなら今持っている全額払いたいよ！(気持ちですよ)」
「素晴らしかった！ぜひ今後も続けてほしい！！(気持ちはね)」
と叫びます。
I felt I want to support them, and I shouted
“Want to pay my money all I have, if I could.”
“The tour was great, I want you to continue this effort.”
… but I didn’t have actual plan to support them at that time.
気持ちですよ、伝えたかったのは。
I wanted to show only my feeling to them, though.
よぉ〜し、俺ならこの紙幣をチップとして入れてやるぞー、
ってチップ入れボックスの前で最も高価な紙幣をチラつかせます。
I pretended giving them most expensive bill to brighten up the atmosphere.
ツアーのスタッフたちは目が輝き、周りの参加者たちも盛り上がります。
The staff looked me with shining eyes and people surrounding me were excited at that time.
紙幣を、、ちらつかせてたんですが、気づいたら募金箱の中に入れてました。
周りの参加者から歓声が上がりました。スタッフからも抱きつかれました。
周りの楽しい雰囲気に流される病なんです。
Pretending at first though, I put my big bill into the tip box at last.
Cheers from people surrounding me and the staff hugged me tightly.
The atmosphere made me do like this. This is kind of my bad characteristics which is not good for my wallet.
ペルーでは、200ソル紙幣が最も高価な紙幣です。（日本で言う諭吉ですね）
200 sol is a most expensive bill in Peru.
当時のレートで8000円！1週間ほど滞在予定だった私の生活費ですね、
チップを払わない人も大勢いる中でのこの金額を寄付！！
I payed for them about 8000 yen in Japan which was my living expense to stay one week more.
Was Too big tip from me, there were many people who didn’t pay tip though.
一気に手持ちなくなりました。引き換えに、何か成し遂げた感、スタッフとのマブダチ感は手に残りました。
No bills in my hand suddenly though, I felt accomplishment and friendship with staff.
ちなみに、ペルー人の1ヶ月の生活費は3万円らしいです。
彼の生活、月の1/3は私が賄っています。
Average Peruvian living expense was 300$ for one month, by the way.
I took care of him for 1/3 month.
気持ち良すぎ！私の感謝が結果として伝われば良いと思いました。
Felt so nice!! Good for me if they got my gratitude as salary.
スタッフの満面の笑みと、私のえも言われぬ表情。
気持ちよさ：90％、感謝：10％、、後悔：120％

こういうフリーツアーって、危ない国では少人数だと怖いしなかなかお客さんも集まりにくそうで、
ペルーぐらいの大きな観光国ぐらいでないと成り立たなさそうです。
日本でも地元のおばちゃんが案内する田舎フリーツアー、なんてあったら面白そうだなあ。
The free tour like this seems difficult to establish as a business in dangerous countries because of safety.
It needs many participants for safety and business like in Peru which is big travel country.
It could be interesting holding this kind of tour in the countryside in Japan guided by local lady.
ただ、チップが払われなかった時のスタッフの主張力が求められますね♪
正当な主張だと思いますが！ペルーは少し強めでした。
One needed and difficult skill as staff is the aggressiveness of speech to customers to get a tip, which was very aggressive in Peru. ^^
スタッフたち、
さっと募金箱をバッグに入れて、
そそくさと、帰って行きました。
The staff quickly put tip box into their bag, then went home. Simple.
… De nada!!! (どういたしまして！)
