プレアヴィヒアの次は、
「東のアンコールワット」と言われるベンメリア遺跡の観光ツアーに向かう。
After Preah Vihear, head to Beng Mealea called “East Angkor Wat”.
ベンメリア遺跡はラピュタのモデルとなったとも言われています。
Beng Mealea ruins is said to be the stage of LAPUTA castle in the sky.
ベンメリアはシェムリアップの東に位置します。
Beng Mealea is east of Siem Reap where Angkor Wat is located.
プレアヴィヒアからはまたバスで移動！
Moved there from Preah Vihea by bus again.

人工遺産と自然が共存してる感がすごいですね
It’s wonderful that artificial heritage and nature coexist.
ベンメリア遺跡もアンコールワットと同時期の12世紀はじめに建設されました。
ちなみに、この時期にはこれらだけでなく、カンボジア各地で遺跡がたくさん建設されて居ます。
この時期に遺跡が多いのは、9世紀から15世紀にかけて繁栄したアンコール王朝によって、
巨大な遺跡群が遺されたからなのです。
Beng Mealea ruins were constructed the 12th century at the same time as the establishment of Angkor Wat.
Those many ruins in this period are due to archeological remains left by the Angkor Dynasty.
ただその後、内紛や外敵の侵攻により、アンコール王朝は滅ぼされ
18世紀までこれら遺跡群の存在すら忘れ去られてしまうのです。。
However, the Angkor Dtnasty was destroyed afterwards by internal strife and invasion of foreign enemies.
the existence of these archeological sites have been forgotten until the 18th century.
さらに1970年のカンボジア内戦によりこんなにもボロボロに、、、
Furthermore, the Cambodian civil war in 1970 has destroyed it so much…
外壁の一部が地に埋まってる、、
崩壊からの時間も感じます。
Parts of the wall were buried in the ground.
Feel the time from the collapse.
こういう扉的なものを見ると本当に王朝があったのだなあと感じます。
I felt there was a dynasty from a temple door like this.

ぜひこのような遺跡はこの状態のまま、のこして欲しいものですね。
I really want such archeological sites to be left in this condition in the future.

蛇神ナーガ
Naga (Serpent God)
ナーガはヒンドゥー教の蛇神です。
現在は国教は仏教であるカンボジア、
これは、クメール王朝時代のヒンドゥー教の名残ですね。
Naga is a Hindu serpent.
However, the national religion of Cambodia is Buddhism,
this statue is a remnant of the Khmer dynasty where Hinduism was the state religion.

とても住める場所ではないですが、観光地には現地民が集まりますねー

衛生面の理由から海外では基本ストローで飲む文化があります。
でもストローだと味変わるんだよなあ。。
There is a culture of drinking drinks with straws because of hygiene reasons overseas.
Straws change the taste that I don’t like.
