Headed for a nice market in the old town in Cairo.
店が無数に立ち並ぶバザールで、
金から工芸品まで、とにかくなんでもあります。
In the bazaar where there are countless shops,
there is everything from gold to crafts.
これはもう、、何屋でしょうか。
What kind of shop is this?? It’s chaos.
店内見ていると、
ちょっとしたお茶の提供、嬉しいねえ
When I look inside the store,, the staff gave me a little tea. What a nice store.
他の店でも、食べ物屋さんでもないのに
「まあまあこれでも食べてっ」と、こういう一口菓子を出してくれます。
In other shop, “Hi, eat this first!”
the staff served us a bite of sweets even though it’s not a food store.
いやいや、ちょっとしたお菓子店頭に抱えすぎなのよ。
商品に興味のないお客さんを店内へ言葉巧みに誘い入れるのです
Wow, do all shops have the little sweet? Mandatory??
It cleverly invites customers who are not interested in products into the store.
ここから、エジプシャンの悪いところが全開に出てきます、
商人気質というか、より正しくいうと、全ての物事をぼったくってきます。
タクシーはもちろん、このようなバザールなら観光客は格好の的です。
From here, the bad things about Egyptians come out in full bloom.
It is more like ripping off all things than businessman’s temperament.
Not to mention taxis, tourists are obviously target in such a bazaar.
さあ、ここで海外旅行の楽しみのひとつ、交渉タイムです！
Now, here is one of the pleasures of traveling abroad, negotiation time!
交渉において、我々はまず最低限の武器を身につけなければなりません。
それは私の経験から生み出された「1/5交渉法」です。
In negotiations, we must first acquire a minimum of weapons.
It is a “1/5 negotiation method” created from my experience.
いわゆる正規店と比べると、
彼ら商人は最低約3倍の価格を売値としています。
お金持ち中国人はその定価で買って行きますし、多少お客に割引いいても正規価格の2倍以上は荒稼ぎして行きます。 めっちゃ儲けているのです！！
Compared to so-called regular stores, those merchant Egyptians sell at least three times the regular price.
Rich Chinese people buy it at that list price, and even if the staff give some discounts to customers, they will earn more than twice the regular price. Making a lot of money!!
そこで、「1/5交渉法」を使いましょう。
基本売値の1/3が定価なので、初手でこちらは思い切って1/5の価格を提示しましょう。
エジプシャンは様々な反応をするでしょう、「ありえない」「じゃあ買わなくていいよ」などなど
ただ、店の奥に帰っていかない限りはチャンスがあります。必ず勝負しましょう。
So let’s use the “1/5 negotiation method”.
1/3 of the selling price is the regular price, so let’s say the ideal price of 1/5 for the first time.
Egyptian will have various reactions, “It’s impossible,” “Then you don’t have to buy it,” etc.
However, as long as they don’t go back to the back of the store, you have a chance. Let’s definitely play the game.
「いやいやいやいや、隣の店は似たようなのもっと安かったし！」
もしくは「本当にお金がないんだ、、、、こんなにエジプトが好きなのに」
と感情を昂らせながら店員の声をかき消すように大きな声で叫びましょう、ここ重要です。
“No way, no way, this one in the store next door was similar, but it was cheaper!”
or, “I like Egypt so much, but I really don’t have money…”
Let’s shout loudly to drown out the voice of the clerk while raising emotions, This is the point.
ペースを握ったら、とにかく店員と身の上話でもして仲良くなります。
かなり仲良くなることが必須です。
If you hold the pace, you will get along with the clerk anyway by talking about your life.
It’s important to get along quite well.
そうして、価格を示し合い、定価の1/3にできれば上出来でしょう。
一件ごとかなりエネルギーを使いますが、、ここでしかできない楽しみ、でしょうか、エンジョイしましょ
After presenting the price each other, let’s confirm the final price. If it is 1/3 of the list price, it would be great.

そして、ここでも交渉！ パピルス紙という植物の茎から作られたエジプト古来の紙に描かれた絵画屋さんです。
やっぱり人気の絵画になると、お高い、、、

店員と私の闘い。（そうは見えませんが、双方楽しんでいます）

そしてGET！
納得の金額で手に入れることができました。（定価知らんけど）
Finally, I got it! with a reasonable price. (don’t know the regular price though)
まあ楽しいのだけれども、
エジプトの嫌なところは、この交渉が全ての物事で必要なのです。
Well, it’s fun at first, but
the worst thing about Egypt is that this negotiation is necessary for everything.
例えば、タクシーはもちろん、ナイル川を渡る船も交渉。 相場が難しいですがしっかり交渉しないととんでもない金額を支払うことになります。
For example, not only taxis, but also ships crossing the Nile required negotiation. If you don’t negotiate well, you will have to pay a ridiculous amount.
コンビニみたいな商店でも、値札はなく、
あってもアラビア語（日本でいうアラビア数字ではなくインド数字）で書いてあり読めん。
Even in the shop like convenience shop, there were no price tag.
Even if there is, it is written in Arabic and nobody can read it.
それを良いことに、いちいち値段を交渉してきます。
At that time, the clerk begins negotiating the price one by one.
こういうチェーンはそりゃあもう安心よ。
This kind of chain restaurant is definitely safe.
なんて書いてあるかわからんけど。
I don’t know what it says at all though.
最悪なのは、水を買うのにもあいつらは交渉してきます。
もううざい！！うざすぎる！！！笑
The worst thing is that they negotiate even to buy water.
It’s annoying!! ANNOYING!!! Lol
喉乾いてんねん！！！！！！！
I’m thirsty!!!!!!
水くらいいいだろ！ 少しでも定価より高い値段をふっかけてきます。
It’s enough!!! How come you earn money even from a bottle of water with a little higher price than the regular price.
この商人魂に嫌気がさしすぎて、
旅終盤は、近寄ってくる商人全てに◯意を覚え、殺気だった顔で睨みつけてました。
滞在は1週間弱ほどでしたが、エジプトに2週間いたら
イライラしすぎて、ちょっとした遺跡くらいは爆破していたでしょう。
I was soooooooo disgusted with this merchant’s crazy soul.
At the end of the trip, I stared at all merchants with a murderous face.
I stayed for less than a week, but if I stayed in Egypt for two weeks,
I was so frustrated that I would have blown up a little ruins.
ちょっと商人がしつこすぎる国、エジプトでした。
So this is Egypt, a country where merchants were a little bit persistent.
