なんかこう、、空港ついた瞬間から「ドバイ感」感じます。

The moment I landed, I could feel Dubai in the air.

ていうか、なんなら空にいる状態で、なんかドバイの唯一無二感をビンビンに感じる。

Even from the plane, I could already sense that signature “Dubai vibe.”

なにこの急な都会、蜃気楼？　　A sudden explosion of skyline and lights — almost like a mirage.

オイルマネーのイメージが強いドバイですが、意外と現在の石油収入は経済全体の1％未満らしい。

Although Dubai is often seen as a land of oil money, oil actually makes up less than 1% of its total economy today. The city originally grew as a fishing and pearl-diving village, long before oil was discovered. Then, Oil Field was discovered in 1960s.

Today, the main pillars are tourism, finance, and real estate, not oil.

超超超先進国であるドバイはタクシードライバー乞食に囲まれることはないのですが、

だいぶ混んでる一般道を150km/hくらいで送迎してくれたヤンチャすぎるスーツをきたジェイソンステイサム風のタクシードライバーの洗礼を受けつつ（もうなんかの映画のシーンよ…）

Dubai is super futuristic — you won’t get mobbed by taxi drivers like in other countries.
Instead, I got picked up by a guy who looked like Jason Statham in a suit and drove 150 km/h through downtown traffic.
It was cinematic chaos.

ドバイ首長国の旗 Dubai flag

ドバイはアラブ首長国連邦（UAE）を構成する 7つの首長国（エミレーツ）のひとつです。
この7つの首長国は一般に自由に行き来できますが、ちょっとした注意点がありました。

例えば、首長国境を越えるタクシー。

隣の首長国に所属するタクシーを利用すると、若干高いので、現在いる国のタクシーを利用するようにしましょう。首長国間はもちろんフリーで行き来できますが、境界を感じますね。

You can freely move between them, but small things like taxis can differ — for example, if you take a cab from another emirate, it’ll cost more.

イスラム教と水でキレーに洗浄することが宗教的にマナー、慣習とされているらしく、かなりホース方式が根付いてしまっているようですね。（https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1877042816302440）

But actually, there’s a deep religious reason behind it. In Islam, purity and cleanliness are part of faith, so using water for cleansing is a daily custom — that’s why you’ll find hoses in almost every toilet here.

ドバイの近代化と宗教文化が共存してる場面でした。
It’s one of those small examples of how modernity and tradition coexist in Dubai.

Beach

Jumeirah Beach

3月は気候が穏やかで、とっても過ごしやすかったです

その代わり夏はひどいらしく、、、最高50度にまで上がるらしい。。。

March is perfect for Jumeirah Beach — warm days, cool nights.
But in summer, it can reach 50°C.

真夏は、家を出たらすぐタクシーに乗って、目的地の建物の入り口で降りる、みたいな生活らしい。。。。恐ろしいな

In summer, stepping outside feels like entering an oven.
People take taxis from door to door. Literally go from air-con to air-con by taxi.

ドバイには「オールドドバイ」と呼ばれる歴史的な地区があります。

旧市街内は渡し船で移動！

ここには伝統的な市場（スーク）があり、ゴールドスーク（金の市場）やスパイススーク（香辛料の市場）が有名

The area is full of traditional souks, and the most famous ones are the Gold Souk and the Spice Souk. Here, you can truly see, smell, and touch Dubai’s old trading spirit.
